How do I use the book?

You can use the book in a classroom setting or on your own. Although some exercises with choral singing are geared to a group setting, it is still possible to learn about harmonic structure and voice leading in a solo setting.

Do I have to go through the book in order?

Although the book is written to be completed in order, it is possible to skip the harmonic material in Chapters 10 through 19 to get to minor keys and compound meter faster. You will need to cover the rhythmic material in those chapters.

Do I have to use solfege?

No, you do not have to use solfege. I believe it is the most effective system but you can choose to use numbers or an alternate system and still be successful.

Where can I get more staff paper or a new keyboard?

There are downloadable pdfs under the Materials tab.

Do I need a piano or keyboard?

Yes, you will need an instrument to play your starting pitch and check your Sight-singing accuracy.

How do I gain access to the Answer Key page of the listening examples?

Please email me at criley@mmm.edu if you are an educator or individual that needs access to the answer key.
